DESCRIPTION OF THE VISIT IN MADEIRA
This was the sixth project meeting with the frame of the project “Cultural and social integration in the context of Euro 2012”.
Place of meeting:
The aims of the visit :
• Analysis of materials done: Posters of football players, football teams;
• Talk about activities to be carried:
- Football matches on school pitches/ imitation Euro 2012;
- Regional education/ local school trips to develop civic and social competences;
• Check and arrange the meeting in Austria;
• Preparation of the CD, with activities done.
• Joint work on final report;
The activities undertaken :
• In the meeting it was an exchange of experiences and best practices in the socio-cultural and educational
between all partners;
• Clarification of the activities to be carried:
- Hold a football championship to imitate the Euro 2012 and organize trips to local sports;
- Take photos of all activities done;
- Send some pictures of each activity to Robert to our home page.
• The meeting in Austria has been agreed to 10 to 14 May;
• It was recalled that the questionnaires must be repeated and sent to the responsible until 25th April;
• Acknowledging the perspective socio-cultural and educational of the school:
- Tour of the school: know the teachers, the pupils, the classrooms and the methodologies the process of teaching and learning;
- All partners attended our school show. They had a look at the musical activities prepared by the pupils and teachers.
• Acknowledging the perspective traditional and cultural of the Madeira Island:
- Levada walk Ribeiro Frio – Balcões: one of the main attractions of the island of Madeira, where we could enjoy the beauty of its landscapes
- Visit to Fundação Berardo: where we can find a little of the history of Portugal and some species of flat and flowers that are part of the laurel forest (Madeira Island forest - World heritage UNESCO );
- Walk to Pico Ruivo, the highest peak in the region;
- Visit to Parque Temático da Madeira, where we can see the history of Madeira Island, traditions, habits and customs of its people;
- Traditional food and drink;
- Folkloric groups from Camacha;
- Traditional handcraft from Camacha;
• The group was welcomed by the mayor of our county Santa Cruz and of our parish Camacha to show the importance of the European project for the region;
Final Products and results:
• The partners got to know the history of Madeira, habits, customs and traditions of its people;
• All partners had the opportunity to know the reality of the school, the education policy, carried out in the Madeira Islands;
• We have recalled the delivery dates for the 2nd questionnaire and the results;
• The dates for the next and final mobility to Austria were set;
• Official meetings with local authorities, students, teachers and local society.
