Typical dishes

·         espetada: grilled meat skewers served with home-made bread and red wine

·         caldo verde: a vegetable soup

·         gaspacho à alentejana: a cold soup of vegetables with sausage and bread

·         bachalau à moda do Porto: typical salt cod of Porto

·         camarões con vinho do Porto: fried prawns with onions and porto wine, mixed with scrambled eggs and at last baked

·         cozido à portuguesa: a stew of beef, chicken and sausage with rice and vegetables soup

 

Desserts

The most famous are:

·         pastéis de Nata: the typical cheesecakes

·         queijadas de Sinora: delicious cheesecakes flavoured with cinnamon from Sintra

·         pastel de Feijào: an almond cake

·         arroz doce: a delicious rice pudding flavoured with lemon and vanilla

In the North of Portugal you can eat:

·         torta de Viana: a rolled sponge cake stuffed with eggs

·         toucinho do Céu: a cake made of almonds and cinnamon

·         papos de Anjo: small delicious cakes

·         budim Abade de Priscos: a typical pudding made of  Porto spices and lemons

In the South of Portugal you can find :

·         bolo Podre: a honey spicy cake

·         queijada de Alentejo: small cheesecakes

·         doces de amêndoa: small cakes of marzipan and almonds

Wine
About the wines, the most important areas of production are: Algarve, Alentejo, Bairrada,
Bucelas, Dão, Douro, Estremadura, Lafões, Madeira, Pinhel, Porto e Ribatejo e Vinho Verde

Sports:
