The history of Primary School No 25 in Rzeszów begins on 2nd July 1982 when the first document about establishing was signed by the local authorities. First students entered the school on 1st September 1983. For many years there were eight levels of classrooms at the school. Once upon a time over 2500 students were entering the classes during the same school year. Few years ago Polish Ministry of Education decided about reforming the whole system of education. Due to it our school is now the primary school with six levels. Children enter the school at the age of 7 and finish it at the age of 12 (there is a special state and official test at the end of the primary school to check the students’ skills and abilities). Nowadays about 570 children learn at our school (there are 23  forms of pupils) and they are taught by 50 teachers. A few years ago our school was named by Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski, one of the most important heroes of modern history of Poland.

Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski (1901-1981) was a close friend of the pope John Paul II and the outstanding figure of Polish Catholic church. He was conferred a distinction on the archbishop of Gniezno and Warszawa and the primate of Poland in 1949 by the pope Pius XII. He became the cardinal in 1953. Communist authorities arrested him (in the 50’s) because he was speaking loudly about depreciation of Catholic church in Poland. He spent three years as the prisoner in the Bieszczady Mountains. There he was completely lonely.

When he was released, he came back to his previous functions.Soon he became the real moral authority for Poles and began the moral education of our nation. Many of his ideas are the basic rules of Polish morality.

Children enter our school at the age of seven and the first three years of education are called early-school education and then they are taught and taken care of by the same teacher. From the first class pupils have got lessons of English and Computer classes. They can enjoy their time at the wonderful and modern school swimming pool.

Many additional activities are proposed to them, like music, painting or sports classes. Those pupils who have to spend some time at the school day-room are encouraged to take part at the school performances or art exhibitions.

The next three years at primary school (IV-VI) change the style of education.

Children are often visiting the school library, they can
eat tasty dinners at the school canteen and younger
kids spend free time at the day-room.

Every year students elect their own students
government and it proposes the list of school
celebrations. It teaches them the responsibility
for the others.

Our school is situated in the heart of the local
community and that is why it tries to be the heart
of this community. We cooperate with the local
authorities and cultural institutions.
It really helps to organize the school life.
